Mission Statement
The mission of St. Mark Catholic Elementary & Junior High School is to provide quality Catholic education that promotes academic excellence, moral discipline, and spiritual growth while preparing students to become responsible members of society.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to be a strong Catholic learning institution committed to nurturing students who are academically competent, morally upright, and spiritually grounded.
History of the School
St. Mark Catholic Elementary & Junior High School was established in 1996, initially offering pre-primary and elementary education. In its early years, the school operated within the church building, providing basic education to children in the surrounding community.
As enrollment increased, the school later moved to a temporary tarpaulin structure, which served as a learning space for several years. Despite the limited facilities, the school continued to operate with dedication and commitment to educating young learners.
In 2006, Rev. Fr. Ambrose of the Catholic Diocese of Gbarnga, accompanied by visiting missionaries, visited the school and assessed the condition of the learning environment. Recognizing the need for improved facilities, the missionaries generously contributed US$1,200, which was used to begin the construction of a six-classroom building and an administrative office. This structure currently serves as the main school facility.
As the school continued to grow, it was elevated to Junior High School status in 2008, allowing students to continue their education up to Grade 9 within the same institution.
Today, St. Mark Catholic School operates two academic sessions (morning and afternoon) to accommodate its growing student population.
The school administration extends its sincere appreciation to the Catholic Education Secretariat of the Diocese of Gbarnga for supporting teacher development through “C” Certificate Training Programs and for providing educational materials and stationery supplies that continue to strengthen the school’s academic program.
