Teacher Training Catholic Education Professional Development

At the Catholic Education Secretariat (CES) of the Archdiocese of Monrovia, we remain firmly committed to uplifting the standard of education across our schools. To ensure our educators are thoroughly equipped with modern skills, deep knowledge, and practical expertise, the Department of Instruction recently rolled out two vital training initiatives targeted at both newly hired senior high science teachers and prospective Religious Education teachers.

These training programs underscore our ongoing mission to foster academic excellence alongside spiritual and moral development in our classrooms.

Equipping Spiritual Mentors: The Prospective Religious Education Workshop

On Friday, March 13, 2026, the Department of Instruction successfully concluded a comprehensive, two-week intensive training workshop tailored specifically for prospective Religious Education teachers.

A group of twelve (12) passionate candidates successfully benefited from this rigorous program. Over the course of two weeks, these prospective educators dove deep into effective instructional methodologies and spiritual formation strategies, preparing them to nurture the minds and hearts of our students.

Our profound thanks go out to the knowledgeable facilitators for their exceptional expertise and for so generously sharing their wisdom throughout the training. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all the twelve participants for their time, dedication, and unwavering commitment during the just-concluded workshop.

Enhancing Practical Science: Senior High Science Lab Orientation

In tandem with our spiritual education efforts, the Department of Instruction of CES Monrovia also conducted a targeted two-day Science Lab Orientation. The core purpose of this initiative was to provide a solid orientation and critical, hands-on basic skills to senior high school Science teachers who were recently hired to work within our school network.

The intensive training program was hosted in the science laboratories of Christ the King Catholic High School. To give each scientific discipline dedicated attention, the orientation was structurally divided:

  • Monday, February 9: Dedicated entirely to Biology teachers.

  • Tuesday, February 10: Focused specifically on Physics and Chemistry teachers.

Each day was structured to balance rigorous work with supportive community building. Sessions kicked off promptly at 8:00 AM with breakfast, followed by focused lab work. A lunch break was held at approximately 1:00 PM, after which the orientation resumed and continued productively until about 4:00 PM.

A total of 12 newly hired teachers successfully attended the orientation, comprising:

  • Six (6) Biology teachers

  • Three (3) Chemistry teachers

  • Three (3) Physics teachers

A Sincere Thank You and Bravo!

The success of these programs relies heavily on the strength of our community. We wish to extend our special thanks to the administration, staff, and students of Christ the King Catholic High School for providing an incredibly conducive, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for the training programs held recently in their facilities.

The CES says a resounding bravo to all the organizers, facilitators, and participants! Together, we continue to elevate the future of Catholic education in Liberia.
